“[Bossanova] expertly maintained the Pixies’ abrasive but endearing mix of boy/girl harmonies, flip-flopping structure, and freewheeling guitar jabs, while folding in bits of surf-rock, bizarre sci-fi lyrics, and some sweet, hook-heavy choruses.”
Bossanova and Trompe Le Monde were both remastered by Kevin Vanbergen who has been working through the band’s tape archive to create new Dolby Atmos mixes as well as high-res masters of the band’s catalogue, including both their Live at The BBC and Complete B-Sides compilations.
Side A of the Bossanova 7” is a Steve Albini recording of ‘Dig For Fire’ recorded in late 1987 during the sessions for Surfer Rosa, and sounding far removed from the version they released almost 3 years later. Side B is ‘Go Man Go’, a once near-mythical Black Francis and Kim Deal co-write that was recorded by both Pixies and The Breeders during the album sessions for Bossanova and Last Splash respectively but failed to make the cut for either. Outside of appearing on a bootleg tape of Breeders demos and them airing it a few times live at the time, the song faded from view until 2023 when, upon discovering the lost master for it, The Breeders included their version on their 30th anniversary reissue of Last Splash.

About Dinked International
Dinked was launched back in late 2018 as a genuinely collaborative project between some of the UK's most proactive and industrious independent music retailers. Eight years and some 450 releases later, we have proved time and time again - and quite categorically - that we can remain fiercely independent but through this collective, we are also stronger together. Now, working with our brothers and sisters in the USA is the perfect evolution of Dinked, incorporating a new set of passionate, forward thinking and smart independent retailers to support brand new artists, established acts, future stars and indisputable legends across any genre. Our tastes and reach are wide - it’s all about the music and making sure that people listen, right across the globe.
